Daniels & House Construction’s overall objectives for cost management on any project include:

  • Establishing practical methods for tracking cost on the project
  • Providing comprehensive reporting functions
  • Ensuring maximum project value through Value Engineering
  • Controlling costs

We, as the Contractor, are responsible for overall monitoring of the project in terms of cost control and containment. We are able to provide cost management and forecasted cost information on a daily, weekly and monthly basis. We track cost on the basis of forecasted final cost and therefore we are continuously updating our projections to reflect project cost as progress occurs.

In terms of Change Order Proposals, we require our subcontractors to respond to cost related issues in a diligent manner, as it is in all the parties’ best interests to analyze and identify potential problems.

Cost Control for Daniels & House begins with weekly cost comparison summaries and production reports, where appropriate. These monitoring instruments allow the Project Manager to quickly access the status of the project and to pinpoint those areas in which actual costs are exceeding estimated/budgeted costs. This provides management with the information necessary to focus on the areas that require attention. Computer generated cost and labor productivity reports are one of the valuable tools we use for support.
